About the Innovation Hub
Since 2011, our team’s continuous innovations in developing the next generation of Cathode Active Materials (CAM) have led to over 48 patent issuances globally—and more than 56 pending—in jurisdictions that include Canada, United States, China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Europe.
We have dedicated teams innovating and producing many cathode battery materials, including:
- LFP (lithium iron phosphate)
- NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide)
- LNMO (lithium nickel manganese oxide or high voltage spinel
Using our One-Pot production process and Metal direct to Cathode Active Material (M2CAM®), our technologies improve environmental impacts while driving down costs.
The Facilities
Spanning 25,000 square feet, our multifaceted Burnaby facilities perform several key functions. Here, we engage in lab-scale research and development of the One-Pot reactor technology, working closely with our partners from the initial stages to scale, evaluate, and refine our materials. The site encompasses our cell fabrication and testing facilities, complete with a dry room and an array of physical characterization equipment.
In 2023, we significantly enhanced our Burnaby operations, constructing a specially engineered space designed to advance our thermal operations and technological innovations. This addition enables us to showcase the viability of both novel and existing processes intended for continuous production lines, extending from wet chemistry to the final packaged material. Complementing these advancements, the expanded facility also houses an engineering workshop, a commissioning zone, as well as areas designated for warehousing and services.
