Scaling Sustainably

Nano One’s Candiac facility is demonstrating the One-Pot process at an industrial scale and will produce LFP commercially. The Commercialization Hub will also serve as a Centre of Excellence to train future plant operators, facilitate continuous improvement and to offer our customers, partners and licensees access to experienced implementation teams in engineering, procurement, construction and operation.

Existing Facility

Our history in Québec

Our Candiac facility was built in 2010 by the Québec startup Phostech Lithium (est. 2002) who brought experience having previously built a pre-commercial LFP plant locally.

The 2010 facility emerged as North America’s sole commercial LFP plant and at the time was among the largest in the world—with a capacity of 2,400 tons per year through a hydrothermal process. After undergoing several ownership changes since 2011, Nano One took over the site on November 1st, 2022.

LFP One-Pot pilot plant

Our team in Candiac is the most experienced LFP manufacturing team outside China. Today, we’re converting the facility to a pilot plant to demonstrate Nano One’s proprietary One-Pot process.

The production will grow from an initial 200 tons per year capacity to 2,000 tons when the transition is completed. The purpose of the plant will be to continuously improve the process, validate key equipment at commercial scale and produce samples for potential offtake agreements and sales to clients.

Design Once, Build Many


LFP One-Pot Commercial Facility

The LFP commercial facility will demonstrate the optimal production line for the One-Pot process. It will be engineered using a design once, build many framework for replication in future multi-line production plants. Standardization of design will help achieve the scales and time to market required to meet current projections.


Multi-Cathode Piloting Hub

We’re designing a facility to pilot the production of NMC, LNMO and other emerging cathode chemistries using our efficient One-Pot process. The Multi-Cathode Piloting Hub will advance the technology readiness level of these chemistries at a larger scale. This will demonstrate the feasibility of the One-Pot process and allow us to license the technology to other companies. Engineering the optimal production line de-risks the technology and aligns with the modular expansion model we have underway for LFP manufacturing.
