“When I learned of their commitment to a reduced environmental footprint, I knew I wanted to join that team.”
Dr. Shabnam Pournazari is a Senior Research Scientist and Team Lead at Nano One, committed to changing how the world makes battery materials.
Before joining Nano One, Dr. Pournazari researched corrosion challenges to help prevent the degradation of structural materials. She focused on oil and gas installations, marine renewable energy, and the pulp and paper industry. Seeing how climate change and air pollutants accelerate corrosion fueled her passion for the environment. By 2021, she transitioned to clean energy by joining Nano One.
“Nano One’s process modifications ultimately result in higher-performing battery materials. When I learned of their commitment to lower production costs, a reduced environmental footprint and the elimination of sulfate waste, I knew I wanted to join that team.”
Dr. Pournazari and her team’s innovative research in BC is directly supporting Nano One’s commercialization efforts in Quebec. “Nano One’s goals are top of mind when I’m in the lab, whether I’m conducting experiments, gathering data, analyzing results, or having discussions with my peers. What I love about working here is recognizing the positive, real-world change that our work will have in creating more sustainable and better-performing batteries.”
“It is great to be part of an organization that prioritizes growth, collaboration, and the well-being of its employees.”
“Overall, the people, flexibility, trust, and commitment to innovation are the key elements that make my workplace a fulfilling environment. The people I work with are talented, diverse, and passionate about what they do. Collaborating with them not only enhances my own skills and knowledge but also creates a vibrant and stimulating environment. We share ideas, learn from each other’s experiences, and try to achieve our goals together. It is great to be part of an organization that prioritizes growth, collaboration, and the well-being of its employees.”
