The Quebec government has announced an investment of $18 million in Nano One to manufacture low-carbon batteries.

Economy Minister Christine Fréchette, Environment Minister Benoit Charette, and Health Minister Christian Dubé were at the Nano One plant in Candiac, south of Montreal, on Monday morning to make the announcement.

The investment will enable the company to convert its facilities in the Montérégie region into a pilot plant for the manufacture of cathode-active materials (CAMs).

A sum of $15 million will be used to finance the conversion of the plant and $3 million to help the company develop a technology that will help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions during the manufacture of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) CAMs used in batteries.
